First finished piece of the year, and a giveaway.

First piece of the year is finished:the crashed saucer from the Mars Attacks Kickstarter. A lovely resin kit in two pieces, the ground and the broken saucer, made by http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/. It could certainly have been given washes, highlights, bits of flock etc and been brought up to diorama level, the sculpt is that good, but I will settle for this. It looks good enough for a board game, certainly.

And the giveaway. Tor gaming have some of the weirdest miniatures I have ever seen. I have never gotten round to buying any, but I will most certainly join this giveaway for a chance to get a starter kit.

  1. Nice. One suggestion, do some of the rubble bits in grey to look like pieces of the road or sidewalk. Ties it in better to the playmat.

    1. Good thinking! I shall have a look at the mat and see what colour would blend well.

    1. Got to get to the scenarios using the saucer first. And that means painting the saucer. The crashed car that seems to show up every game is on the paint table now, hopefully up here soon.

  3. Well done that man! I picked my up and had a closer look at this weekend and promptly put it down, not sure where to start. You've done a great job and perhaps given me the confidence to have another look.

    1. It's the old riddle:"How do you eat an elephant? One bite at the time."
Look at the first scenario and paint what you need for that. Half a dozen Marsies and some grunts. Then you are off and next you'll be doing the heroes.
And if it is any comfort: the terrain piece above was real simple to paint and still looks ok. Chocolate brown, mid brown highlight, light brown highlight, gun metal and gold, wash, done.

  4. So you're off to a good start for this year's painting challenge. Nice work.
